Background and Philosophy

I moved to Truckee from Minneapolis in the winter of 2000 – drawn to the area for the snowboarding, but staying for the mountain lifestyle and all that it has to offer.  My passion for wood work actually began as a love for art; creating industrial abstract sculptures in wood, metal and stained glass.  Stepping into a career in carpentry was a natural next step. I have been a professional carpenter in the Truckee and North Tahoe area since 2000.

 

Although I am highly skilled in new construction and remodels from “foundation to finish”, my passion is in designing and building custom cabinets and furniture.  By working closely with homeowners to define their custom design goals – I ensure that the end product meets their practical and functional needs, personal aesthetic and budget.  Creating your custom design presents exciting challenges that can only be met by a high level of technical woodworking skills, creative design and material approaches, and an artistic aesthetic.  My clientele ranges from tenured interior designers to the individual home owner who may need assistance in articulating their design needs and approach.  

 

My philosophy is to build a relationship with my client.  I want to fully understand your project goals and constraints, and with this knowledge in hand, I can then bring my artistic eye to your custom design and construction needs.  

 

With all custom projects include I include Google Sketchup renderings to help you visualize and develop your custom crafted product.

And life can’t be all about work!  My wife Heather, son Jonah and I live, play, work and go to school in Truckee.   We are avid snowboarders/skiers, white water kayakers and spend every spare moment enjoying the wonders of the Truckee-Tahoe area.
